It is not my "code". I found this code on the forum.
I read your two links but I do not understand. I am not a programmer. I only translate.
There are 125 files to insert into the game. If I change each sentence one by one in the game. It is a titanic work. There are hundreds of lines. After I must to modify the code of French accented letters.
I give up this game because we must to know how to program.

Hi Alex,
I think I understood.
QFG4 is a CD and floppy game.
CD game does not have any corrective files in game folder. So, I must created a patch folder for your 140.scr file and for all the files to be translated. I can not insert translated files into the CD game.

I found floppy version. There are corrective files in game folder. Your 140.scr file is not compatible. This is logical because the structure of CD game is different from floppy game.

Hi Alex,
I put your 140.scr, 999.fon and IBMKBD.DRV files in game folder (qfg4). I start the game... Not French letter
I tried inserting your 140.scr file into the game via SCICompanion.
I have this error:

BUT...
I create "patch" folder.
I put these files: your 140.scr file and 999.fon and IBMKBD.DRV files in patch folder.
I write this: patchDir  = patch in "RESOURCE.CFG" file. I start the game... It is good ! I have French letters.
I do not understand ! It is weird.

Because I extracted these files (msg.140, 141.v56, 145.v56 and 145.p56 ) of English version.
For msg.140, 141.v56 and 145.v56 files... It is good, not problem.

But for 145.p56 file, I have big problem. This file freezes the game when it is extracted (without any modification on my part).

I tried your 140.scr file. The game crashes with French version. The problem is140.hep file (french) . If I delete 140.hep file. It works... But, we have this:

With SCICompanion, I did "Manage decompliation" in "Script" tab... SCICompanion crashes.

I found other files (sci.sh, key.sh and other files). You can not edit these files.
@ Daventry, It is good, thanks.  It is incredible. You succeeded ! You were fast!
How did you do? Because I have other games that have problems : Quest For Glory III (French version), Quest For Glory IV, Mixed-Up Mother Goose.

Hi,

I have a problem to write the character's name.
I would like to translate Quest For Glory I and IV.
This problem is for Quest For Glory I, III and IV. (Same in French version of Quest For Glory III.)
At the beginning of game, we have to create our character.
We can not write name (nickname/pseudo) of character with signs or French letters (, , , -, etc.).
We can write that these letters of "a -> z and A -> Z" and the numbers "0 -> 9".
For example, if we write Ren. The is not displayed. It does not come from the fontt, because I inserted it in the resource.

I opened the game with SCICompanion. I searched the files and I found these files: Script 203.scr, msg 203.msg, view 802v56, font 123.fon and pic 904.p56.
I did "Manage compilation." I searched in the script files. I found chAllo file. I guess my problem comes from this file because I have this:
(and (<= KEY_a pEventMessage) (<= pEventMessage KEY_z))               (and (<= KEY_A pEventMessage) (<= pEventMessage KEY_Z))
(and (<= KEY_0 pEventMessage) (<= pEventMessage KEY_9))

But if I change the z by , I have an error:

It is possible to import ".txt" files that have numbered over 999?

Hello,
I redid the translation of "Conquest of the longbow" ..
I inserted "scr, font, pic, view" files in my game... No problem.
For tex files, I have no problem from 0 to 999.
But I have a problem for tex files from 1000 -> 2162. (see screenshot)

I have to enter each line of my translation by editing 1000.tex file (for example)?. (see screenshot)
