SCI Syntax Help / Re: SCI Debug Modes

Sadly, no.
The game actually calls script 800 if it's present. It serves both as the trigger and the logic of the debug mode.
I guess it could be reconstructed in time, by our sci community experts.  :)

Reviving this old thread, in light of the new script decompiler (thanks troflip!).

I found that in Conquest of the Longbow, you can get a teleport screen at the start of the game by creating an empty 799.SCR file.
The game also check for the existence of an external "magic" script 800.SCR, but since it's nowhere to be found in the internal resource package, I can't test it.

I'll update the wikis later.

I got the full game. It also contains 900.MSG and it's identical to the demo.
How can I search for usages of the messages?

Check you PM about the game.

My guess: he's a member of a Russian game translation group. These groups often develop their own tools for extraction, modification and embedding of game resources.

First type in "backstage pass" or "pump shark" and hit enter, then type in "qa"... this only works in room 2. Following the intro.

Typing "tp" after typing in backstage pass will let you teleport anytime however.

Apparently, this is already known.

What does "MPC" refer to?

Multimedia PC, i.e. the CD-ROM version.

Maybe to enable unit-tests (which were removed in the final game)?

Of course, if you're serious about developing a game, you should be using some kind of version control system anyway...

I'm all for saving to individual files, which behaves more nicely with version control (I'd use either Git or Mercurial - would be awesome to have integration with the IDE but really not mandatory), and separate "Package" function for unversioned Resource bundles.

Anyway, remember: "Save early, save often!"  ;)

I believe the AGI XMAS card is from XMAS 1986. At least according to the file dates.
I'd change it myself but I don't have a user for the wiki...

Sure! find that super-elusive EcoQuest EGA and send it over! :-)
Anyway - enjoy these versions. They are a joy to look at ...

Have a look at my skydrive here:

OK, I changed my mind (that was quick!).

I opened up a new github project called SciWorkshop. You can check it out at

At this stage it's just an empty WPF app. I intend to work on it in my spare time - but don't get your hopes too high - I don't know how much effort I could put into this and how long my enthusiasm would last.

Everyone is welcome to join of course.
