Looks great! I noticed that there is no sound support yet... do you have some preliminary sound code
or would you like to "borrow" mine (which "almost" works)?

Actually, i coded all sound-decoding routines, except main playback engine... (Probably i can implement `disk-writer` atm) But i'll glad to take a look at your code anyway :)

Holy damn! this looks like it could be soooo cool! the only other vmd player i've found one other vmd player before, but it's got a weird dos interface. sound aside, i think this thing would rock (can't test it now as i'm at school)

I just wonder whether it can play the vmds from lighthouse and shivers 2 better than "that other one".

Looks excellent from here, thank you! ;D

I tried, but I couldn't get to the webpage.  Maybe Brian can put the VMD player in the next version of SCI Studio (like Soundbox)?

Hi!
I tried, but I couldn't get to the webpage.
The free hosting i'm currently use a bit unreliable outside russia. Sorry about this. If anybody wish to post VMD player or my other stuff on their pages, it would be quite nice.

WOW! today was my first real chance to try this bad boy out. This thing blows me away man. Sound aside, this thing does it all. At first, i couldn't figure out why you'd put a double size option in it. As i started playing the movies on the lighthouse disc, i discovered why. EXCELLENT WORK! I would be glad to host these files for you, as i am signed up to several reliable webhosts.
Keep up the good work (Brian, you too ;)), and hope you can add sound support soon!

ok, one last question: how much harder is it to convert than decode? what i mean is, what about an option to convert vmds to a windows video format (like avi or mpeg)? Or is that way more advanced?

Anyway, SCI and Sierra, and all of its supporters RocK!!

Hi!

At first, thank you all for your feedback  ;)

Now my answers:

It's quite easy. It's even more simple than playing  :D I'll add .avi saving in the next release.

and, tofu, vmd's are basically only in SCI32 games. Either the hand drawn/cartoon ones, like space quest 6, LSL7 and Kings Quest 7, or games like shivers and lighthouse.

WOW, it's so cool to finally see all the vids from lighthouse!

The windoze VMD player does look nice, but I prefer the DOS prompt any time... you can't beat farmanager.com :)

I know someone else suggested this, but I think it would be great for Brian to have this in SCI Studio. Would you be able to contribute your codes to him for this? It would be great if you could create some converter to convert AVI or MPEG to VMD so that when we make our games in SCI Studio we can include them.

It would be cool to see that we can view VMD's in SCI Studio as well.

Just a thought, but since the source code and effort is yours, then so is the decision.

But thanks for this tool!

Joey

LL: Firstly, what does FAR Manager have to do with the VMD Player? Secondly, there is another, less robust VMD player that uses a dos box (and then launches a windows player??). This other one does have sound, but has really bad support (doesn't play the VMDs i want to play) and doesn't have features such as double height (which, as said, is extremely useful). I can't wait till VAG's next version with sound, nevermind the conversion for now, just hurry up and get the beta that's got sound support out there! :D Since we can't get SCI studio that soon, i'm hungry for the VMD player. Is there a status report you can give us, VAG?

Greatly appreciated, thanx :)

TO VAG:
Oh My God. Please, this is my mail: radiobuzz_1@hotmail.com when you add the option to save the VMD files to another format, please let me know. I was looking this for ages. I really want to translate Phantasmagoria to Spanish, and I can't find the tools anywere. Thanks a lot man.

Are there any updates yet??? I'm really excited and would like to at least see an update/news about it if possible. Is it still being worked on? Or perhaps placed on the back burner for more important things? An update would be appreciated

Thanx, and keep up the great work!

you mean VDMSound, it's completely different than the vmd player, as well as the DOS vmd player i was talking about. it's got nothing to do with vmd at all.

I can only assume this project has been put on hold or "shelved" indefinitely.

is it rude of me to ask what's up with it?

Thanx

What about this program? Is still in program phase? Abandoned? Thanks anyway to the programer for efforts.
