Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Tool (the band) game
« on: June 19, 2004, 01:27:49 AM »
Hey, I might have a little free time this summer.  I'll probably work on a Tool game.  If anyone wants to help me make it, please reply.  I think if someone is making it with me then there is a better chance of it being an actual complete (and good) game (unlike Bluntman & Chronic and Osama Been Skatin').  The game should have lots of references to Tool's lyrics, videos, CD art, Bill Hicks, music, etc. (already got some Tool midis converted to SCI sound).  Here is a screenshot of Bill Hicks giving surgery to someone who wants their third eye opened.

You could finish my game if you want, expand on it, or change it completely (Bluntman & Chronic).  I'm pretty busy, even now in the summer, so I might not ever have enough free time again to work on it or another game.  Check it out, it is open source.

It's just a demo called 'Osama' and it is really short.  Where can I upload it for free?

I for one would like to suggest that instead of giving me a traced tour of posters and screenshots how about using them to tell a story or make a game that consists of more than just easter eggs, and finally if you are abandoning it's development, don't bother releasing a demo!

I agree.  I had a lot of story (on paper, not in the game), and a better map, etc. but I am so bad at programming that I couldn't find a way to put it in.  If you look at my scripts, you'll notice they are all the most basic, easiest things to do.  I read the tutorial and the help files and didn't understand well.  I released as abandoned because I most likely won't continue it, but if I do it won't be for a very long time.  I figured if somebody wanted to make a Simpsons game I have 1 good pic (inside Moe's) they could use if they wanted.

They released a trailer for LSL8?  Your not talking about the one linked on Al's sight when it was 3D?

It is a new trailer.  It says "guess who's back" then it shows a 2d-looking larry, then a 3d larry (that looks different than the previous 3d Larry from the LSL8 demo) knocks the 2d thing over, then it plays a fast version of the larry theme song while larry plays air guitar, then it shows him doing things like running around naked and stuff, some names of people in the game are "charlotte godchaux" and "tilly crookshonks"

Dang it.  I keep accidentally getting people mad.  I wasn't bragging, I was scared, because the game is really crappy at least for the time being.

No.  I'm serious. 650 people downloaded it so far.  I only thought maybe 20 or 30 people would get it.  I guess a lot of people like Jay & Silent Bob.

Wow, 580 downloads so far.  That would be really bad if that many people heard the name Brian and thought of him as being the crackhead from the game.

I don't see why someone would decide to put you in their game for any reason regardless. Third, you state " don't care if you have me as a nerd, a ...", stop digging yourself into a bigger hole. Descrimination is not welcome here. So you're saying that someone being gay or a woman is a lesser human being, and on the same level as a terrorist or crackhead? Stop right there and stop making more enemies! You need to grow up!

I just thought if they really liked you, they would put me in the game to get me back or something.  I just listed nerd, woman, etc. as things I am not.  I wasn't saying they are bad things.  I wasn't trying to imply discrimination.  Peace

Anyone can change it since it is open source.  Just make a view of another dude and put it in.  Then change the dialogue.  The potleaf was a reflection of Bluntman's chest.  You guys can change the text file too.  I can't do anything yet because I deleted it, so somebody else might have to (whoever downloaded it and still has it).  Sorry Brian, I was just trying to reference everything I could, movies, music, sci studio, etc.  I should have asked permission.

It is there now ;)

OK, I uploaded it.  Now it is 458 kb (had to be zip, not rar).
To get it, go to Chris's AGI website.  As of 6pm mountain time Oct.31, it isn't there yet, but maybe soon.

Please tell me what you think.  I would love to hear feedback, even if it is negative.  You can be honest, I don't mind.
