Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Ego view change when Inv open...
« on: August 12, 2004, 08:31:05 PM »
I'd like for the Ego to change views (to view 2) when the inventory is open (ie, having his coat open, hand in pocket, etc while the inventory box is open).  The closest I can get is having the Ego switch views after the inventory is closed, which I don't want.  But even then I can't seem to fix him back to his normal view a few seconds later.  When I try that, it stays on the normal view during the time he is supposed to have the other view.  Coding isn't my expertise...any help, please?  If you need me to clarify some more, feel free to ask...

Thanks in advance, and expect a major project to be announced very soon, and finished not too much later, if all goes according to plan...

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Call For Help
« on: June 04, 2004, 12:27:39 PM »
Eh, slightly off topic, my apologies to the mods.  It does have to do with SCI STUDIO though...in a way.
About a year ago or so, Brian and Aaron W. went on TechTV to talk about SCI STUDIO.  Well, the show they were on, Call for Help, is gone now.  TechTV merged with G4 to make G4-TechTV, and Call for Help was canceled.  I figured I should tell you guys this, since SS has been on that show, and Brian could have possibly gone back on Call for Help to promote SSVGA, or any other project of his.  Sad, sad.

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Intro Buttons
« on: May 30, 2004, 10:04:54 AM »
In my game's intro, I want to have a button appear when you click, such as in later Space Quests, asking if you want to watch the intro, skip, or restore.  I tried following Brians Tut. and using the button code from there, but where I am trying it it doesnt work

Code: [Select]
               // End the title screen, start the game
         (if(CAN_CONTINUE)
      (var button)
= button Print(
  "What do you want to do?"
  #title "Space Quest 3 1/2"
  #font LARGE_FONT
  #icon 0 0 0
  #button "Watch Intro  " 1
  #button "Skip Intro" 0
  #button "Restore" 2
)
(if(== button 1)
  Print("You are watching the intro")
  )
(if(== button 0
  (send gRoom:newRoom(2))
)
(if(== button 2
  Print("You are Restoring")
  )
  )
  )
                )
          )
      )
   )
 )

As you can see, scripting isn't my specialty.  When I try compiling this, the script says "Undefined Symbol "var".   I would also like to know how to close the whole thing if the player chooses to watch the intro.  I know how to make it restore, I just haven't bothered putting it in first.  Help!!!

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / SCI VGA backgrounds
« on: May 25, 2004, 08:05:07 PM »
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't SCI Studio 3 have all backgrounds saved as directions to making that background?  It will leave directions rather than saving the picture itself.  Because of this, you cannot import pictures.  Well, Sierra did import paintings and such for their VGA games.  So..on to my question.  Will the new SCI STUDIO change the way it saves backgrounds?  Will it no longer be saved as directions, and be saved like the views are instead?  Does this mean we can import backgrounds in SSVGA?  Thanks for your time.

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Diagonal Views
« on: May 16, 2004, 02:26:04 PM »
I have drawn diagonal views for a secret project, but do not know how to incorporate them into my game.  What script would I change and what would I change in it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't there use to be a tool available on Brian's site that could take some views from VGA games?

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Back with a Bang
« on: April 09, 2004, 01:25:11 PM »
Hey!  I've been gone from the SCI gaming community for bout a year and a half now.  You might remember my SQ game (unfinished) and my idea to get us some TV coverage.  Well, I have been dabbing in a few other engines all this time, but I have decided to return to SCI.  I already have a new fan game nearly halfway done.   It will be based in my house, and right now looks like its gonna be about an Easter Egg Hunt (It won't be as sissy as you may think).  While I hope it will be finished by Easter, i doubt I will be able to get it online any sooner than a few days after this Sunday.  I will try to get some screenshots for you guys, but you will more n likely have to wait for a little less n a week.  You see, I'm making this game on my laptop, which cannot go online, and getting it on this pc would be tricky, but i wont bore you with those details.  Any questions, comments and insults are more or less welcomed.

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / Bye
« on: May 10, 2003, 05:35:00 PM »
You guys have probably noticed I haven't been seen around here in months.  Though I read these boards regularly, i am sad to announce that i no longer have the time to be involved in SCI.  For now, my games are on an idefinate hold.  If anyone wants to work on these games, just see them or say something to me, drop me a line.  Until next time.  Later.

« on: December 26, 2002, 10:10:46 AM »
Merry Christmas! There are two things I want to ask you guys: One, Can I can make extra loops now, or do I have to wait for VGA? Also, I made a present for my brother in one week. It was a game of our house, and you had to find presents. Want me to give to you guys? I spent a minimum of 18 hours on it!  :o

Mega Tokyo SCI Archive / More Demo questions
« on: December 02, 2002, 03:17:44 PM »
I'm playing around with the idea of two demos: the "good guys", and the bad. Should I make one game with a menu where you choose, or two seperate ones?
