Well I've got king's quest V and Space Quest IV EGA (from the KIXX edition), and they're both for PC, and in spanish. So you can add these extra rare things to your list: foreign language editions of each EGA version ;D

No. I don't know what is that Zerowing thing, but I just said that the game doesn't have an official translation. There are a couple of translations made by fans using SCI Studio and some more programs. They aren't much good, though...

Well at the time GK was released, Sierra changed distributor in Spain from Erbe to Coktel Educative, which only translated about 3 or 4 games since...

Space Quest 3 wasn't definitely translated, but there is about 2 or 3 different amateur translations.

Although there are amateur translations of SQ1AGI, SQ2,SQ3,LSL1AGI,LSL2,LSL3,LSL6CD,Laura Bow 1 and maybe more. There is no spanish version of Police Quest 4 (that i know of).

I don't know why but I couldn't manage to get vies to work after adding the header. I put them (unchanged) into the game folder and ended up with several errors. I guess they use a different header pattern or something like that.

Anyway, a SCI32 view editor would be really great...

BTW, I also got a few days ago to activate the debug mode in FPFP CD. I extracted the files from the resource.msg of a spanish floppy version (to kind of translate the CD one) and the game showed the "where do you want to start?" screen. I don't know exactly which files they were...


This makes me think, are the files from floppy version the same as CD's?

I already tried putting every heap & script file in the LSL6 folder, but it didn't worked (the game ran normally). I also tried the old "classes" thing but didn't work either, so I thought they just eliminated the script files of the debug mode.

Files from foppy version, though, didn't work.

Example: Leisure Suit Larry 6; Extract the debug script, in this case 911.SCR and 911.HEP. Just leave them in the LSL6 directory and start the game... Now the game starts with a "Where do you want to start" dialog and the debug mode is activated... Press [?] and all the debug options appear... This is really an advanced debug mode, really worth checking out...


BTW, my LSL6 is the disk version, 1.000... But it could work with other versions... Not very sure about the CD-ROM version though, since it's kinda different (SVGA?)...

I've tried with the SVGA version but it does not have any 911.* file, so I guess the jusy deleted them. CAn you attach the files to this thread or send them to me so I can try with the CD version?

In the CD versions you'll probably have to specify the name of the driver, since there is two sound blaster drivers in sierra games. One is audblast.drv and the other sounblas.drv (i think). Or, you are probably having problems with the read-only attribute. Just remove it and it should work fine.


As for the MUMG floppy, maybe you haven't changed the driver in the installation program?

VAG explained it to me a few weeks ago.

It's true that the program dumps the files without the required header, but you can easily (wll, sort of) add this to the files.

Just create a blank filed and name it "header" (well, name it whatever you want). Edit this file with an hexadecimal editor and add two bytes, being the first one the resource type identifier (i.e. 8F for message) and the second being a 0 byte (00).

Then save the file and open a dos prompt. Type in there:

copy header+resource.msg resource1.msg

and you're done.

You can figure out the resource identifier by sending the dumper output to a txt file (by typing sciresdump nameofresource.map > nameoftxt.txt). Then you will see a "type" column at the beggining of each resource list, followed by a number. Convert this number to hexadecimal and that's it.

i.e

Directory type 0 (view), offs= 1f, len= 198 (68 entries) :

"0" is the identifier, so it will be "00" or "80" in the header file.

By the way, I would really appreciate a Script Editor for SCi32 scripts :)

PS. What are heap files for?

Using SciResDumper I finally goy myself to make a translation of LSL6CD using the .msg files from the DOS floppy version (which was already translated). The problem is that this CD version does not show the special spanish characters (
