Forum Support and Suggestions / Adding our SCI Files - How do we do it?
« on: February 17, 2007, 11:09:12 PM »

I thought I had a good idea to take me out of newbie status but here I am again trying to learn how to do it.  I was actually hoping to be able to put in the files as sci files that way we would not have to do that much tedious work to put them in or take them off the site...why can't we do that Cloudee?  Do they take up too much space?

Sorry, just having a hard time understanding ease of sharing if they are not kept as sci files...that are easily "extractable" & "addable" to our sci programs.

I love this site by the way...just frustrated at how much I suck at everything.

Was that a good suggestion?  Just trying not to be a newbie all the time.

Or are you playing guitar Heroes?

Good Luck

We will see...I think there is a definite place for static pictures as a background...I have a few ideas that I am trying to work on but progress is slow...really slow.

Here is my new idea for this forum...just a suggestion of course...not sure if possible...but a place where we can all put some of our better views...such as different loops of actors, windows, doors, anything that we may want to put in a game.  Then we can just d/l the views and paste them into our games.  If everyone here does a few of these views we will always have a quick place to get a view to build a game?  Just a thought to increase output and sharing.

What do you think?

So far, so good.  How can I complain when I get the best response ever from Tropflip about how to input a picture into the background it works really well.

Ok Troflip is a genius...I have been playing with what he said here and this is the coolest thing ever.  I can't wait to use it to create a game.  What a huge time saver...way better than tracing images.  Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is cool enough I will try it out.

PS...what the heck happened I go to work for a few days and then everything changes here????

That is pretty cool...but now if I take a picture and want to put somethings in front of the ego in terms of priority...not possible...but I guess I just have to give up on that dream...thanks Cloudee I will try what you said.

Awesome I just saw that I got second place...I am ready for the new game Doan...get it started...I am ready to win to create my own competition...I have one all picked out and was ready to win by default...but I have to say your game is pretty cool....

I still think it would be awesome to be able to have real pictures in the pic editor...but like you said you can just paste them onto the screen as a prop or actor.  Even though it makes the cursor blinky.

Ok I solved Doan's game...with only 34 points and I never was able to read the note from the Doctor,

I cheated a little only because the save game option crashes the game...and there are only a few typos (this coming from the king of post typos...but I am actually good at editing)...but it did not hinder gameplay...I know I won't win the competition now.  I am very impressed...I totally forgot about the *******...that was a good twist...because of everything happening I forgot about it and wanted to try to shoot something...but I could access the game script code to see what to do...I am a cheater...again only because I got tired to playing the first four scenes over and over again because the save game option crashes the game.

Thanks Doan...hope to work with you in the future on something.

PS.  I don't care how the game does it I still think adding a picture to the pic editor would be awesome if we could do it...then you could walk on a screen with the pyramids behind you or something...just quicker to paste than to hand draw then.

That is my wife's birthday also...weird.  Happy Birthday to your daughter.

I have done this but it slows the game down tremendously and it makes the cursor blink weird and I think that takes away from the game.  I know it would be difficult to trace around the tree or something but that is a chance that I would be willing to take.

Is it possible to make that happen in sci studio?

I am so dumb...I am just happy to use Sci studio...I just think it would be cool to be able to hack it to put the pasted images for tracing to stay on the pic instead of having to trace them...can someone do that?

Really Dumb,

Cloudee1 is right I trailed off for a while because I got food poisoning.  Right when I was starting to try to put together to avoid script for my ghosts.  My throwing up put an end to that.  I thought I was just sick of staring at the computer screen working on the game...and before I knew it I was blowing chunks...and stuck in bed for two days straight...not to mention a foggy head for the week after.  I will be checking in now and again but my JOB is starting to get crazy so I am really focusing on that.

I will be around...waiting for the next competition...I will have a million more questions for Cloudee1 and everyone else I am sure...thanks guys.
