I will have to send mine to cloudee's email I am too dumb to figure out how to attach it.

Sorry,
JT

******************
I got it and have attatched it to this thread.  ;D
It probably wouldn't go because it was larger than I set the file max limit. But you had a lot of the scistudio files zipped up in there too. Once I removed those it was within the limits.

* Atatchment Removed, This game can now be downloaded from the Fanmade games pages.

Don't really care...interested to see what everyone else thinks.  It is is bigger that would be great....just as long as you can always cut and paste it into a script and try to compile it then that is ok.

SCI Syntax Help / Re: How to make a finished game file?
« on: January 16, 2007, 04:29:30 PM »
I figured it out...just scroll the mouse over the file and right click...on the "send to" section it asks you to send it to a compressed file folder...this will compress the file and store it on your desktop.  Then you can email it like that-I hope...because I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks,
JT

Do you suggest a file zipper...I searched on my computer for winzip...but it doesn't have it...it must have something because it extracts files just fine...but it gives that to me as an option when I mouse over the zipped file.

What zipping program should I use?

Thanks,
JT

SCI Syntax Help / Re: Best suggestions for adding sound?
« on: January 14, 2007, 10:50:28 PM »
I saw it after I wrote that thread...thanks...also I am getting sea sick scrolling through all of troflip's threads on Mega-Tokyo...trying to find info on avois script...I have taken out pieces from different threads and I am going to try to write the code and play around with it...this is what I have so far...

Avoid Script

I can't write it for you, but I think here is what you'd need to do:
1) make a Script and give it a doit method
2) in the doit method, for each thing that needs to avoid you:
    a) get the distance between it and the ego
    b) if that distance is smaller than some value, then make it walk in the opposite direction of the ego.  Basically you setMotion(MoveTo x y) where x and y are some distance away from the ego (that is at least as large as the distance used in 2a), in the direction opposite from the ego.

(if(Said('talk/man'))
            (if(< (send gEgo:distanceTo(aMan)) 20)
                (if(send gEgo:has(INV_KEYS))
                    Print("Hey you found them! Where were they?"#title "old man Says:")
                    Print("They were in your car..."#title "You say:")
                    Print("What do you mean they were in my
car?"#title "old man says")
                    // move the old man
                    (oldMan:setMotion(MoveTo 100 130))

I hope to tweak these to write an avoid script for my New Year's game.

I can't find the avoid on MT...the only avoid I found was a message from you about the jump script...wen't there and it was interesting but not an avoid script.  I will look thorugh his posts next.

Yes,  I actually saw that back a few months ago on a different site when I was looking for hints on how to program....it looks good.  How is it coming?

SCI Syntax Help / Best suggestions for adding sound?
« on: January 14, 2007, 08:36:27 PM »
I tried out Doan's games that have links from this site and this guy is very good at what he does...even my excitement at finishing a one screen game has waned at trying out his games.

Yet...I still want to know more so that one day I may be able to write a game that Doan says...hey that game is pretty good.  Maybe 5 years from now.

I played the homestar runner game by Doan and it had a kicking soundtrack on the first screen...I really just need some chimes of a clock...12 to be exact....but how do you add sound.

1)  How do you add sound...I have not tried reading up on it because I am lame...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
JT

Ok this is what finally worked...and it took hours to get these little lines tweaked out to work...sorry I had to go with the good old print line instead of display.

(if(== gScore 12)
Print ("You've done it you are the winner.")

Thnaks,
Cloudee1

Ok does anyone know what the score variable should be if my main.sc is the standard main.sc?  Just trying to add in Cloudee1's code for ending the game once you reach a certain score.

So far I've tried:
the original...
(if (== score 2) // I'm not sure what the score variable is called exactly
 (Display "You've done it you are the winner.")
)

below ar emy variations...
(if (== Score) // I'm not sure what the score variable is called exactly
 (Display "You've done it you are the winner.")
)

(if (== (Score 2) // I'm not sure what the score variable is called exactly
 (Display "You've done it you are the winner.")
)

(if (== (gScore 2) // I'm not sure what the score variable is called exactly
 (Display "You've done it you are the winner.")
)

More homework...crap.  I will try it, but I was kind of all giddy being 99% done.  We will see.

What in the hell is wrong with us...I also play guitar and even sing a bit.   If we spent more time practicing guitar than doing Sci studio we would all be rock stars by now.  Oh forget it...Cloudee1 just gave me some more code that I never thought possible...have to go compile now.
