Issue viewing AGI tutorials
« on: July 10, 2016, 07:15:48 PM »
I'm noticing issues in viewing the AGI tutorials. Each link directs to the same "which engine do you want to learn" page. I was wondering if this was a known issue or something that would be fixed soon, etc.

If it's not a known issue, then here I am reporting it.

A while ago, at a block party I found myself socially trapped at, I thought to myself: I need a t-shirt that says, "I'd rather be programming".

Can't help but notice how the hidden Site Content subfora don't include AGI at all. There's site pages, SCI0, and SCI11. Related?

When AGI games went down, I made the space for any AGI fans/programmers to have a home here. Unfortunately there weren't very many around at the time and haven't been many since. I started making space for AGI forums, but not knowing AGI myself, wasn't even sure which editor was the best one to use. There are still a number of links to many existing tutorials around. I had intended to copy them all over to here, unfortunately I never actually did and as time went on there was less and less need as we have only had a few AGI programmers make themselves known. The worst part is that most of the regulars here don't know anything about AGI either so the old tutorials are really all there is.

Part of the problem is that most (all?) of the AGI IDEs have issues on modern Windows. The IDE that Gumby and I was working on is compatible with modern Windows, but is still missing the logic back end and compiler.

I have rescued most of the old AGI tutorials for the Wiki. It involved a lot of Wayback Machine diving of a lot of the old AGI sites that have disappeared. If you want to mirror them here for completeness, feel free to snag them from the Wiki. I believe the scripting is the same across all IDEs, so the tutorials should still be good, even if I find someone to help with the logic for Gumby's and my IDE.
