I'm 40 years old. I've been a gamer since I was about six or seven years old, with the Atari 2600 cartridge console and later the Atari 800XL computer.
Unlike many of you, I don't have a technical or engineering background; I'm a journalist. My brother and a close friend of us where into technical stuff, though; they were the "techies" and they are both engineers, though. The funny thing is, they have fond memories of those games but have since outgrew them or have gotten into other hobbies.
I played a couple of Scott Adams' adventure games in the Atari 800XL computer. But around 1988, I saw LSL1 for the first time in the monochrome computer of an older cousin. Man, it was love at first sight.
That same year, or the next year, we got our first PC and began to play Sierra and LucasArts' adventure games. I'm sure many of you had similar experiences and memories: what a time to be alive! My first Sierra adventure games were LSL1, King's Quest III and Space Quest 2. Around that time, I also played LucasArts' The Secret of Monkey Island and Loom.
I was born and grew up in Santiago, Chile, and I'm still living here today. So, my mother language is Spanish, but I learned, or "perfected", my English playing those amazing Sierra adventure games. I think no one has ever realized the great potential of those kind of games to learn new languages!
Good times, fellas. As a nerd, I didn't get any in high school (nor in college, in fact), but I had those great games.
