Looks like I'm the greybeard around here. I'm 52. My first computer was a RadioShack Color Computer with a whopping 16K of memory and a cassette tape storage system.

I still have two! Color Computer 3 (only one works, though). Have a cassette drive and a 5.25" drive, as well as cartridges and loads of Rainbow magazines with games you could program in yourself. That was our video game system as kids along with dad's Tandy 1000. Fond memories of Zaxxon, Pooyan, Thexder, and Super Pitfall. We even had King's Quest III but our CoCo didn't have enough RAM to play it. :( Still have the box and disks though!

Maybe the disks have some source code left in their free sectors?

I wouldn't know. I don't have a way to have them read. I don't have a 5.25" drive hooked up anymore, and besides it's not DOS format compatible. I wouldn't think it could even be read on a standard DOS system...

I'm 40 years old. I've been a gamer since I was about six or seven years old, with the Atari 2600 cartridge console and later the Atari 800XL computer.

Unlike many of you, I don't have a technical or engineering background; I'm a journalist. My brother and a close friend of us where into technical stuff, though; they were the "techies" and they are both engineers, though. The funny thing is, they have fond memories of those games but have since outgrew them or have gotten into other hobbies.

I played a couple of Scott Adams' adventure games in the Atari 800XL computer. But around 1988, I saw LSL1 for the first time in the monochrome computer of an older cousin. Man, it was love at first sight.

That same year, or the next year, we got our first PC and began to play Sierra and LucasArts' adventure games. I'm sure many of you had similar experiences and memories: what a time to be alive! My first Sierra adventure games were LSL1, King's Quest III and Space Quest 2. Around that time, I also played LucasArts' The Secret of Monkey Island and Loom.

I was born and grew up in Santiago, Chile, and I'm still living here today. So, my mother language is Spanish, but I learned, or "perfected", my English playing those amazing Sierra adventure games. I think no one has ever realized the great potential of those kind of games to learn new languages!

Good times, fellas. As a nerd, I didn't get any in high school (nor in college, in fact), but I had those great games.

That is where a KryoFlux comes in. It reads the magnetic flux of the spinning disk and gets all of the info, regardless of format. All you need is the KryoFlux, a functional 5.25" drive and a free USB port on your PC.

Well I won't be getting one of those anytime soon.

Given the cost I didn't think so, but given my extensive floppy collection it was a matter of preservation or risk losing them. There is a cheaper solution, even if it cannot copy CP tracks. http://shop.deviceside.com/prod/FC5025
