Can someone explain all the properties of each class. The  help file doesn't explain any of them. They only explain the class methods.

Any particular class, or just all of them?

all of them would be a whole lot of work.  :P

Also, can someone tell me what types of sentences the said parser can understand. The first tutorial said that a sentence can have a maximum of three parts. Can someone tell me the types of sentences the parser understands. Use the format word class/wordclass/word class. The only one I know is imperative verb/preposition/noun.

The reason I ask is that I also write TADS games. They provide a parser manual. SCI Editors don't really explain the parser in their documation like other adventure game editors.

Man, I wish Troflip or Lars were around to handle this one.

I looked at the scistudio help file and, looking at features, the simplest of the two,  :P It claims the properties, are x, y, z, and heading. So I'm assuming this is basicly just used for props, actors and other views.

For the most part those are pretty self explanatory, but anyway,
x the x position
y the y position
z the z, position, basicly an offset y,
and heading, probably a angle, but the direction an view is heading.

Ok, so I know this is probly not what you wanted to know, but there it is. That's as much help as I can give for now.

As for the Parser, Troflips Advanced tutorial goes into slightly more detail in the advanced said string tutorieal, but he doesn't give any kind of description like verb/noun/noun but essentially that will get you there.

typing look tree, look at tree, look at the tree are all recognised as the same input, so basicly noun/verb.  As I gave up a long time ago with the parser some of the guys that have fought with it more recently might be able to shed a little more light than that. I have gone totally point and click myself.

Aren't the properties more or less just used by a class's methods? Except for the odd few like view, x, y, and z. But then I believe there are methods for all of those like setX(), setY(), setView(), etc.

I think I'm going to stick with the said parser games since I am also a TADS developer. I am going to tinker with the parser some more and will try to create a parser manual/guide. Hope I have good luck with the project. I may enter the comp, but am more interested in games using the parser.

Would love to see as many competition entries as possible and as for the text parser, I gave up on that long ago.
I had spent so much time making and remaking SpongeBob AdventurePants, adding in what I thought was everything that could possibly be thought of as. Then I took it to a friend to have them check it out and the first half a dozen things they typed in are things that I had over looked or used different words for.  It was very frustrating. That was when I started working on the point and click system.
