SCI 1 and 32 Audio
« on: September 21, 2013, 04:11:28 PM »
With SCI Studio, I can extract almost everything except for the scripts and the audio files for SCI 1 and later. Does anyone know how to extract the audio from SCI 1 and SCI 32 games? Is there a program that can display the scripts for SCI <any version>?

No. There's an old program called SCI Decoder that can export resources including audio and scripts, but there's nothing to help you read compiled scripts. It works for SCI0 and SCI1 games. It won't export from SCI1.1 games, however. There's another command line program called SCIDump, I believe, that can dump resources from SCI1.1 and SCI32 games. Again, no decompiling any scripts, though.

Thank you, very much for your responses. :) I will look into SCIDecoder and hopefully that will solve my problem. Right now, I finally got SCI Viewer to play some sound from Space Quest 6, but am having trouble now with the lipsync data. ;)

Alright. New issue. SCI Decoder VGA tells me that none of the audio files are really there. So I have to stick with SCI Viewer. SCI Viewer exports audio from SQ6 to a resource file, SOUND.001. I have tried converting that file to a MID and a WAV, but still can't get it to play outside of SCI Viewer. Does anyone know how to do that? SCI 32/SCI 1.1, etc.

The Sierra Resource viewer can extract almost any SCI resource from the archive, but as MI indicated, no decompiling of scripts. The command line tools from the Resource viewer can dump the resources en masse, but exporting to standard formats like SOUND.* or *.SND to MIDI is limited to one-by-one from the GUI.
