Mega Tokyo AGI Archive / Just Introducing Meself...
« on: September 01, 2001, 09:14:54 AM »
Hallo. My name is Nicholas Kerklaan. I am a fountain of festering nostalgia for the old Sierra adventure games. It is by accident that I found my way to AGI programming, but now that I have, I thank that apparently non-existant spiritual entity that always seems to have people killing over it for my good fortune. I intend to design an AGI game, so I figured I may as well introduce myself to the forum so that:

a) I don't have to do so when I need to ask for help

b) If and when my game is finished and released, people don't go "Nick, who?" (Or at least, some people.)

and lastly,

c) If I'm going to start mucking around with AGI, I should most likely become part of the local community, because any activitity is more fun when you have like-minded thinkers to discuss it with.

So there you have it, I hope to become a regular contributor to the forum. Details on my game will be posted when I feel

Well bokkers, I have neither a homepage nor a game, because I am currently in the process of learning AGI. I became part of this message board in case I ever needed to ask for help. Granted, I haven't asked for help at all at this point, and I'm certainly not helping matters by pissing people off. So I'll stop. There, I said it. I, Nicholas Kerklaan, will stop pissing people off. Okay, I have tutorials to read. G'bye, and g'day.

Dexter,

I understand where you're coming from, and I'll try not to make so many pointless posts in the future. However, I don't really think I'm wasting that much bandwith, and any amount that I am wasting is probably quite insignificant. Also, if my posts annoy you, you don't nescesarily have to read them...

One last thing. I looked, but I can't seem to find any other posts by you on this message board. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough, but it doesn't appear that you've ever posted on here before. This means that you are either new to this board, and decided to pounce on me, or you're another person posting that particular comment under a different name. Either way, it makes me take your comment a little less seriously. And I don't know if you've been paying attention, but there are several posters on here who seem just as worthy of being called "annoying" or "a waste of bandwith". I don't see you pouncing on them. Okay, that's two things, but I had to get my point across.

Regards,
Nicholas Kerklaan

Hohoho. I'm a slippery one. That was all just secret code for "Free The Motherland from Swedish Tyrany." And don't flatter yourself Ax. The invitation was meant for Richard, not you. Not that I don't find you sexually attractive, even though I have no idea who you are. If you want, I can send you pictures of myself in suggestive positions. I have time.

Thinking about it, I realize that perhaps it is not pornography you need. Perhaps you should start seeking comfort in the opposite sex. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, and if you email me, I'll tell you exactly where I live. I'll be expecting you.

I feel you. I toatally feel where you're coming from. What you have to do, is aqquire something called "pornography". If the people who took the photograph of the naked women weren't pussies themselves, there should be pictures of pussies in there somewhere.

Yes. I am horrifically undersexed. Please complete your game speedily so my seething hormonal lust may be appeased.

Rich,

Wow. FQ must be a spectacular game indeed. It's good that a fan made AGI game has managed to achieved the status your game has. To tell you the truth, I haven't actually played FQ yet, mainly because I haven't had time. I vaguely remember the download link on The Ultimate AGI & Sci site not working, but it could be that the memories are distorted from all the pollution in the air. We've gotta save our planet, people. I suppose I could have gone to the FQ site or found it somewhere else... but I'm lazy. Still, it looks interesting, and I may have to check it out. Tell me, is the game basically a raunchier version of Leisure Suit Larry, or is it more involved? And by involved, I mean, do you do anything but attempt to have sex with good looking women?

Nicholas Kerklaan -  because bellbottoms aren't just for girls anymore.

Yes, that is actually a very good link. I saw some of the Alone in The Dark games on there too. Thanks. I already emailed our unamed guest friend with a different link, although it is much smaller than this one, containing only a handful of Sierra and Lucas Arts games.

Actually, while downloading abandonware may be illegal, there's really nothing wrong with it. The only thing wrong with downloading illegal versions of games is that you take profit away from those that made it. I do not believe in this. However, Police Quest is an old game, and downloading it from Ebay is not going to profit Sierra. It will profit the person he buys it from. As for the collection pack, I don't think Sierra makes it anymore. If I'm mistaken, and they do still make it, all he wants is the first game anyway. If he likes it, he can buy the collection pack for the rest of the games.

I believe the answer lies within that fundamental question that has plagued us since the dawn of time: why are we here? Where are we going? And why? Why are we going there? Obviously, Icabod posesses neither the answers to these questions, nor the desire to answer them. Truly, we must peel the mask from his face, and reveal him to be: Jesus Christ. Truly, Icabod is Christ himself.

One fine Summer's day whilst I was watching Sixty Minutes, there was a story about how the government of London is attempting to "coolify" it or something, bring it into the new era. Beats the hell out of me if they suceeded, but that's beside the point. The thing about this piece that stuck with me was when one of London's politicians, a gay man, mentioned a pair of artists who paint with, among other things, their own shit, lauding them as two of the most important artists of their time. Well, "Icabod", I believe it would be to your benefit if you got this pair to do your graphics, because it certaintly can't look any worse than the screen shot you have now.

Okeydokey. I will check it out, and if I find what I want, the characters in my game, when I find the secret to bringing them to life, will personally thank you.

I just revisited the site, and a thought has occurred. Some of these MIDIs would work perfectly for my game in, uh, "progress". Where did you find these MIDIs? I'd appreciate it if you could reply and let me know. Hearing MIDI Falling Away From Me really gave me a rush.

Limp Bizkit with Method Man is one of the songs on my web site there is about 15 songs in total though. they play radomly depending on what time it is on your computer when you open my web site.

Wow. That is truly a goddamned marvel. A technological triumph of man over seemingly impossible terrain. As for the quiz, yes I believe javascript may be the problem. I'll have to check. Then again, it could just be the ongoing conspiracy to prevent me from achieving any semblance of happiness starting up again. We'll see...
