The truth is SCI Studio is not a job and Brian do that by hobby so we can't put pressure on that .
Beside SCI Studio , he has a life which need to live , and it true for all programmers : All of their hobby jobs just be done in weekend , when they had sometime break to do .
I don't know the others , but with me , I had a time just look in assembly code to  ;D and for  ;D . Must tell you , it's boring and make headache , so I decided to quit it and focus on C++ and Java , which expandable and more interesting . The true point I want to say is : CREATE is easier than REBUILT .
Take an example : A team do a job 50 % , still buggy then quit and boss take another team to continue the job . I don't believe they will bother to read code , fix bug but sure that they just reuse the module if it good , and ready to write a new one if it don't fit with them .
So , don't be dissapoint when you see AGS, AGAST , SLUDGE and other adventure authoring systems are motive , fast and always be release a new version . It just because they are created from draft , not remake / rebuilt from an existing one and require compatibility with it . SCI Studio and FreeSCI are rebuilt with limited like that , they must compatibility with old games , old code when others just need an interface look like old games is ok .
Patient , patient and patient . I have watched SCI development from .. uhhh ...96 , 97 ? And now it looks better than the start , so why I can wait a little time ?

Hah I very like the idea use C syntax in SCI Studio . SCI language like the  language which students must do when they learn "compiler".

To Omer Mor :
C syntax
a = b ( a is  equal b )
Original SCI syntax :
= a b    ( a and b has an equal between them )
( like Japanese , if you know that language :D )

Tierra use AGS , and Chris Jones don't require they pay any fee when they change to commercial side. But I think that it's not fair when nowadays ,classic adventure games almost dead and just keep alive by  fans. So why they download KQ1 remake ??? Just to play a new game ?? I think no . It's just a collection of old games from loyalty fans. So why they want to charge anyone just because they recreate old game ? It's just reasonable when they make a completely new game. I really like open source when everyone can create fanfic games as much as they want and so , adventure game will come more popularity. A game company can make a good game , but a big community can make  GREAT games ....and FREE :-D

Awww Brian! Doncha just hate it when that happens? I certainly do, I hate rewriting code - 99% of the time I forget an addition that I've made.

Ahh well bad things happen to the best of us at times.

Good luck getting back on track Brian!

Oh, a word of advice: buy a Seagate HD. They're the best in the business.
Well Seagate is good but always have bad sectors . Always bad sec ,bad sec and bad sec because it's too hot when run ;D. But with bad sectors you can backup your data.
I recommend you use Maxtor , it's good and use Quantum technologies .
The best is use a CDRW to backup everything once a week.

nobody die ...
I think that perhap nobody have any idea to introduce .
everybody already know their needing informations so they are waiting for new SCI Studio ( well , i hear that it will be finished on last of this year ) .
About me :-D : i'm trying make a game like King Quest point'n'click because i really don't like and don't know much about old - style text adventure . But it seems so hard when i must implement a pathfinding algorithm in SCI Studio with script functions (though it's strong enough to do that but I think it will be slow ) .
I'm learning programming languages ie Visual C++ and Assembly and I recommend you too :-D . Perhap someday all of us will finish a SCI Studio support all Sierra games :-D :-D :-D :-D

well i like the script syntax in SCI Studio . It makes a strange feeling...  :)
I'm afraid that when i cover in-depth sci studio i will forget my C++ knowledge ..:-)
My hope :
In next version , SCI Studio VGA can be edit script from original game ..
And hope that SCI Studio VGA will support all SCI1 games include King Quest 6...  :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
