Hmm, you know, it's funny hearing you talking about .NET now, because I've been thinking about writing WinAGISE in C# a couple of months ago, but I thought C++(Win32) is more compatible with this community (and because I wanted to publish its code later on)...
But now, seeing your discussion, I'm giving C# (for WinAGISE) another chance...

My advice, stick to C#, there's nothing the other languages can provide further.
Can you tell me shotly what functionallity the AGI Help Lib will provide?

Hmm, bri, bypassing copyprotections is called "Cracking"... which is a bit different than fixing bugs... fixing bugs is a bit trickier than that, even for expirienced crackers...
BTW, bcrt2000, must chances are that the timer bugs you're refering too are not script related, but probably originate in the SCI interpreter... you could try your luck with one of the non-sierra interpreters, like FreeSCI, if you could wait for one that handles VGA SCI games...

Yeah, brt2000, I've already been in that movie :)
I asked the exact same question, a while ago... it didn't get much results, except for proving me wrong...
It just not possible to decode SCI scripts in a way that will yield any satisfactory results. If such a thing was possible, I would volenteer to help write it!
sorry...

You know, I learned the word "Sans" from Gabriel Knight 1, when he learns the translation "Goat without horns"...  ;D
When I think of it, I owe a lot of language and general knowledge to Sierra games... ;D

Hi, everybody! Kon-tiki, how are u doing?
I thought I could clear up some things about AGISE (since I wrote it...), or actually about music...
In MIDI music there are 11 octaves (! not only three),
but AGI only supports 5 octaves. An octave, by the way, is 12 notes, from one C (yes, it's DO, kon-tiki) to the next C. (BTW, in hebrew, we also use the latin names DO,RE,MI. But C,C#(that's pronounced C Sharp),D is the english naming set...)
In AGISE, you don't have to fill the three fields, but either the ID field, or the NOTE and OCTAVE fields.
Use whatever is more convinient for you...
If you want to put a note according to its height, use the ID field. If you already have a note, and you want to raise it a few octaves, use the OCTAVE field...

In any case, you realy should read the help (F1) to know how to use it... it shows some nice shortcut keys...

Again, thanks for using my program... I hope you enjoy it...  ;D

Omer, haha, I found that we have another thing in common, except for loving Sierra, loving Dream Theater, being from Israel and being musicians...
Call me at 04-9988933 to find out what that thing is...
I tell you, it's a small world after all... ;D

Brian, I didn't mean to be negative about your work (at all!), as I pointed out before, I was just intrested why SCI Studio wasn't what I expected (based on no knowledge of SCI scripts, but only on my imagination)...
I was sure there was a good reason why it wasn't like I dreamed (like any program in the world!), and as you explained quite clearly, there was a good reason...
Yeah, I know that I know nothing about SCI scripts, but I simply don't have time to search the SCI knowledge base...
I didn't mean to imply anything harmful, and if I did, I apologise. (Us, Sierra fans and community have to stick together!)

Still, I don't recall seeing any sound resources which use the noise voice...
I'm not very familiar with NAGI, and I'm not sure how to contact this Nick you mentioned, but I'll give it a try...

Well, I have already contacted Kon-Tiki, and AGISE will be available at his site soon...
Don't hesitate to ask me how to use it....

Hey, that's a SQ IV quote!
Brian, I want to tell you I love and admire your work, and I only hope I could write something as widely used!
Heck, if it wasn't for you, I would never know King Arthur can eat a lizard in Conquests Of Camelot! (I was shocked when I saw that view!)  ;D ;D ;D

You're absolutly correct, only I would rather spend my time on my project (AGISE integrated)...

Changing the subject: I came across several bugs in SCI Studio 2.13:
1. while previewing a resource, I sometimes get: "incorrect parameter" (or something similar) and no other views can be previewed after that.
2. when operating two instances of SCI Studio, the current previewed view gets displayed in the other instance of SCIStudio... wierd, huh?
3. When previewing some pictures, I get a message saying: "This is a beta, the studio will stop the time-consuming filling" (not in these words, but you probably know what I mean)
4.For some strange reason, I can't seem to preview any resource of QFG2... have you tried that?
5.And the worst bug yet: sometimes the Game.txt file (annotation) gets overwritten by an empty file. You have no idea how many times I wrote the description for the Conquest Of Camelot annotation.
6.When I'm changing a resource's name, and press delete (while writing the name), SCI Studio asks if I want to delete the resouce.
7.I would recommend a key-operated name change, (like Windows' F2).

Hope you already took care of all of these...

I can relate to what your saying, but its alot better to have a program which u don't use half of (except from the download, of course) than to crack your skull, trying to figure out if the program doesn't open a game because of a bug in the studio, a missing file in the game, or because it's an "UNSUPPORTED VERSION" (a term which I find totaly repulsive!)...
About your comment, I was only suggesting an idea, which WAS inteded to contribute to the program, on the judgement of its developer alone. I wasn't trying to change it, cause if I would, I would do it myself...
Regarding AGISE, you and everyone else are invited to read my statement on AGI forum/AGIStudio Wishlist/Sound...
Oh, and I have a suggestion regarding SCI games annotation... I'll hand it over at The Ultimate AGI & SCI Site...

Just wondering, why seperate SCI Studio VGA from SCI Studio 2.14? Why not have a uniform studio which can handle SCI games of version 0 to VGA versions, and call different editors according to the version of which the resource belong to?
It might seem petty, but I think it's better to make one powerful tool, instead of two seperate, low-version-tolerance tools.
Think about it, even if its two different studios logically, it can still be integrated into one executable, which delegates authority according to the game selected...

I now understand what you're saying... It makes a lot of sense.

I wonder, since the quest for deciphering the AGI and SCI data formats, has no-one developed any decoder for the SCI scripts, even a non comprehendable one?
(Excuse me, but I am not informed about what has been developed in the script aspect, I'm more interested in the sound aspect...)
