I can run the original AGI interpreter just fine on my Windows XP. What's your problem, does it not start or what..?

Finish it. If it's not very much to do, do it! The feeling of satisfaction when you're done will greatly outweigh the pain you have to go through and complete it.

And, if you would leave it at 90% done and never complete it you would hate yourself for a looong time..

Finish it! :)

!?!? I have all respect for your views, I was just alarmed that someone was making money from a product that you conceived as free..

It would bother me , but if it does not bother you then I guess that it's allright.

Peace :)

5
Well, if they're on SW cd's theyre profiting from your product which you wanted to be free...

6
Well, of course, but it's the "without" permission part that is not very nice. I wouldn't want anyone to include my stuff on any of their CD's if they hadn't asked me first.

7
Yes, that's old news. I was more thinking along the lines of game creators who spend a lot of time designing great games.

Robin: Someone is selling _your_ games without permission? Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that.

Well, if you could come to some sort of "deal" with any of the other interpreter teams maybe there would be possible to actually sell a game. It's in the laws grey area but still..

Donating is much better though, we should just stick to that :).

I see. I started thinking when I noticed that some of the AGS'ers are selling their games and that made me curious of there's been anyting like that in the AGI community.

Naturally I would prefer if all AGI-games are free, I'd rather just donate money to a person/team I really think has deserved it by creating a fabulous AGI-game.

Curiosity killed the cat :).

Mega Tokyo AGI Archive / The communities view on non-freeware games

I am just curious what the AGI community thinks about this issue. Have there been any (fan-made) AGI-games that has been offered as shareware or which required some sort of payment? What are your views on this topic?

(N.B: I am not thinking about charging money for any games, just curious about if this has happened at all or if it's even likely to happen).

Files would have to be distributed without the interpreters I guess, but still, it's an interesting topic. I would personally gladly pay a smaller fee (3-5$) for a well-made and reasonably large fan-made AGI game.

Thanks, I will split my ego into several views then.

Mega Tokyo AGI Archive / NAGI trouble
« on: June 11, 2003, 03:32:29 PM »
Ok, my game is fine in the original interpreters but with Nagi the animations screw up. Whatever loop I put my ego in will remain during the game. I.e I put facing left using set.loop, if I walk right he will moonwalk... this only happens in Nagi. Suggestions?

It's working perfectly! Hooray! The first screen is coming along just fine.. wow, this AGI stuff sure is addictive... oh well. Thanks a lot for the input, I understand this to the fullest extent now :).

Ok, so if I get things right (just double checking.. I might be able to save myself a lot of work).

If I trigger something from i.e a command that the user inputs ("post forum") and I want a series of animated events (timebased) to occur after that I have to catch those in the main-loop since that's where the cycles are processed and not in the if(said("post... etc.. right? And there I put my timers.. right?

My recompiled win32-binary worked like a charm, I might post something later if I combine the 2 applications. It's very little work and should make my (and possibly others) lives easier.
