Download the game here.

Well, has anyone had a chance yet to fire this bad boy up or get stuck yet?

Kind of interested to hear some thoughts about it.

And for anyone who hasn't noticed, there is a new game up on the fan games page. Manic Mansion, created for the Halloween challenge and making use of SCIaudio wherever possible. The name of the game is a knock off of Lucasfilm games' Maniac Mansion and to anyone who gives it a try, it won't take you long to tell why.

Yes, I have played as much as time allows. Nice job. I hope I get some more time to play through soon. I did notice that it really needs to have the cycles set much higher. So anyone else set core to dynamic and cycles to max. I am mulling over a means for the developer to choose DOSBox defaults for distribution. It might be some automated NSIS scripting system to write a proper installer. Thoughts anyone?

Yes and no, the darkness is eating up a lot of cycles. If and when you get the lights turned on, that darkness isn't present and so it plays as it should. So it's kind of a catch 22, if you speed it up now, when the dark goes away then it will be playing way too fast. I tried to stream line everything as much as I could to get the performance out of it I could. having seen some improvement out of it from when I first started and after spending so much time with it, I guess I just got used to how it played, speed wise.

Maxing out cycles should not cause too much variation with lights on or off, unless the game's speed is maxed out. I would expect it to just minimize the extra load of the darkness. I guess it would take some experimentation to determine for sure.
