Something I started throwing together
« on: July 02, 2014, 11:41:25 PM »
So I was playing around a little bit today and threw a room together (for the most part.) I had started on an Invader Zim game ages ago, but I had planned on doing it in in AGS. Well hell, who am I kidding, I'm not an AGS guy. My true love still and probably always will lie with SCI.

Anyway, here is a screenie of what I worked up. I am not real crazy about the actual room background itself, mainly my color selection but that's not really that big of a concern as the room is built almost entirely out of views. Which for the most part I am content with.

Here is the image minus the views

Unfortunately I know my game design notes are gone, they passed when I had a hard drive crap out on me. I am just praying that somewhere I still have a bmp or two of the ego walking cels, I really do not want to draw those out again.

Anyway, anybody else have anything out there that they are currently tinkering on?

I like the views.

I am still tinkering around with trying to develop some new tools, but no game. I don't know if Doan has started anything new or not. Gumby has disappeared and has not been around since last may. I sure hope he re-emerges as I would like his Zork remake to see the light of day as well as a project we were working on. I hope he is OK at least.

It would be nice to see some life here again.

I have always really liked your art style. Even if you're not crazy about it yourself, it has a certain "character" to it that is cool.

I haven't been working on anything since the release of Betrayed Alliance, although I did put together that walkthrough and have been working here and there on crushing the bugs that exist in the game.

Hey Doan, I was looking at the download counts and BA has been downloaded 160 times from the Wiki.

Just got an email from Gumby. He is traveling in addition to taking a break from recreational coding.

Finished up another room. I like the way that this one turned out a little more than the fist one. Again, it was built almost entirely off  of views.

My initial Goal here was to make this room scroll, but by the time I had it going it was very laggy and not at all that much fun to walk around. So except for maybe an intro sequence sometime, I have now pretty much scrapped the idea of a scrolling room.

Looks good. I assume you have DOSBox set to auto cycles/core, so it sees the real mode SCIV.EXE and thus DOSBox automatically sets core to normal and cycles to 3000. Set core to dynamic and cycles to max in the conf file and retry it.

Wish I would have read the post earlier. I have already totally scrapped the room and have already started using it for something else.

It's alright, someday I will revisit the scrolling room. I've got a rudamentary version figured out and have been looking for a reason to use it so it will come  back around I am sure.

Had to do this with Gumby's 120 Below with all of the snow flake views slowing things down.
