I was very late to the fanmade AGI/SCI movement. Thinking back, I have so many memories from the late 80’s & early 90’s playing Sierra Online games. My first Sierra game was Gold Rush; I must have been 7 or 8 when my mother and I played it on 5.25 floppy on what I believe was a Zenith 286. Fast forwarding to the present, I have a 9 year old daughter and thought I might take a chance and introduce her to these old games. My hope being that she would enjoy the time spent together solving puzzles and everything else as much as I enjoyed the same with my mother so many years ago. To my delight, she actually enjoyed the genre even though she was born two decades plus since these titles came out.
When I started searching for these games from my childhood, I was surprised by the fact that there are now scores of fan made games with such a similar look and feel to the games I grew up on, that playing them triggers that nostalgia portion of my brain just like I was playing some Space Quest title for the first time because I had missed it years ago. It was like striking gold realizing these were basically unlimited. There are however two frustrating things I have run across: 1. A few of the best titles are apparently unfinished and likely will remain that way based on the amount of time that has passed since they were last updated (Time Quest, Dave’s Quest); 2. Despite tireless internet searches I have been unable to find hints or walkthroughs which are so often a necessary part of completing games within this genre, at least for me.
So that brings me to my question. Could anyone direct me to a walkthrough for Tonight the Shrieking Corpses Bleed or at least provide me with some sort of helpful information? I always first try my best to compete these games without any outside help. It is so rewarding to have my notepad and pencil with me while playing so I can jot down important info or draw out a detailed map (KQ6 Minataur lair, KQ5 desert, entire Q4G1 map). But I pretty much always get stuck somewhere. Maybe once or twice I’ve been able to complete one with absolutely no help. For this game, my current score is 37 out of 97. My inventory contains: shotgun, empty flask, lopping shears, matches, kerosene, knife, shovel, talisman, house key, tree branch. I have the rope going down below the bridge but don’t know what to do from there. I believe I have completed everything pertaining to the farmhouse and barn. I have not gained access to the deserted factory or the path off the north east section of the park. Any help would be much appreciated as I very much enjoy this game and want to know what happens. Also, any recommendations as to which other games are the most well made would be appreciated. I have only played a few but my favorites were this game, Enclosure, Time Quest & Dave’s Quest.
And like I said, I’m new to this. So please forgive me if I’m not supposed to post this kind of request or if I’ve posted it in the wrong place.
Thanks
