Patches in Sq5

I've been playing some older DOS games on my win98, and I've run into a problem in SQ5 that should have been fixed with an old patch, but it only fixes it halfway.  (When taking the cloak reactor, the icons do not revert back to full-use mode).
I've found the French and German versions work fine.  Is there anyway I could get the English language support in one of the other versions?
Or perhaps use some files from the other versions to better patch the English version?
