Some comments about "The Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site"
« on: June 04, 2003, 08:51:39 PM »
This site sucks...okay not really, actually I LOVE this site, I LOATHE downloading things from it.

How much webspace does it take up? I may be willing to offer 20MB on my server if you are interested Brian, or if that is enough. I would rather not do the whole mirror thing just so that I can get something out of it  ;) perhaps setting up a subdomain like..."agisci.juncmodule.com"?? Let me know what you think.

-junc

Yeah, downloading files from there is nearly impossible... Subdomain would be a good idea.

I doubt he would be able to move it to bripro.com, I host alot of files on my site for bripro.com which I think means there isn't alot of room on his site left.

I have very little space on bripro.com, so all I really store there are pages and images. Many thanks to Chris for hosting my files. I can't fork out the money for more web space at bripro.com.

The Ultimate AGI & SCI Web Site is just a normal site, by me. ClassicGamaing (GameSpy) hosts it for free, and as a result, I have to have their banner ad on it, and host my zip files on fileplanet. If someone is willing to host the zip files, I will move them from fileplanet. However, the site _is_ huge, most likely larger than you all think. It contains nearly 200mb of zips.

It's not a commercial site, I'm the only one who works on it ;) --TUA&SWS Since 1998

In that case I have even a better idea. If Chris will walk me through setting up a FTP for you on my site then I will host BriPro.com for FREE. In addition to that I could host some of the more needed files on AGISCI (meaning files that are not somewhere else right now). I could host the actual pages and a good chunk of the images as well. Although I have a lot of webspace (500MB) I have limited bandwidth (10GB). That is why I only offered 20MB. Let me know what you think.

Do you have cpanel? If not then I can't really help you because that's what I used to set up ftp for Brian.

Yep, I have CPanel. I have followed the instructions in the CPanel manual but it doesn't seem to work. The FTP name and folder are there, but I can't seem to log into it. If you can't walk me through it easily then I will just go to tech support with my host. If it's simple and you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I would offer some webspace, but unfortunately, I've got exactly the same webspace and bandwidth as juncmodule...

Well just click the ftp link in cpanel and add a username and password.

Remember the username will be the same as the folder you give him. For instance, Brian's username is scistudio which connects to the folder scistudio: http://www.agigames.com/scistudio/

Also note that the ftp server/host name should be the same as the default one you use to login. For instance Brian connects to ftp.agigames.com with his username and password. If you typed in ftp.yoursite.com/scistudio/ for your servername, that is wrong.

Anyway this is all the info I can give you, if your host doesn't have ftp setup correctly then you will have to talk with them.

Okay!! I finally figured it out! For some reason when I set up sub-ftp accounts the username must be followed by @juncmodule.com

So, Brian, are you intersted?

I can upload via FTP, but don't want to serve them off an FTP. The files should be served via HTTP. I wouldn't move the site, just the files. Are you talking about hosting the files?
