I threw together a sketch and have called this game complete. I am certainly not content with the title screen image or the background of the first room, in the end I figure those are minor concerns and don't really matter. This game isn't going to be one that people long to play over and over again. It's definately challenging, but it is also a christmas themed puzzle game so maybe it'll get a lot of play next christmas  ;)

Anyway, Winter Wonderland is now available from the fan games page.

Cloudee, nice game.  Got past level 1, and my brain began to hurt on level 2.  I haven't played that type of game in many, many years.  Never would have considered a game like this to be implemented in SCI.  The music is a nice touch too.

There is a sliding tile game created in AGI, that's what gave me the idea. Really just to see if I could figure out the logic of programming it.

Like I said before, this certainly isn't the game that I started out making. I had planned on making several little puzzles. A snowflake matching game, a sliding tile game, where's Waldo search with scrollable screen, and a snowball fight with some carolers (basicly a straight rip from my shootem up game) But in the end there just wasn't going to be enough time to get all of the graphics in order. So instead this is what came out. Weak in comparison to what I had planned, but it works for what it is. There are still remnants of the snowflake matching game which can be found in script 1

I thought the music worked pretty well too. There seems to be a bit of lag toward the end of the second song, but it doesn't last long so I let it go.

Cloudee1! I can't believe you made a sliding puzzle game! I made one of those in my BA game too lol! I wonder if we implemented it the same way in the coding.

Anyways, like gumby after completing round 1 my brain started to hurt for round 2, which I did not complete.

Gumby's game was cool also...but I honestly played for 15 minutes before I gave up and looked in the code for a clue

The source code is included in Winter Wonderland, give it a little peek to see how they compare.

And if you think round 2 is tough, just wait until you see round 3... Easy alt debugging is still in place. If I remember correctly the third puzzle is actually room 2  ;)

I don't know why I like making, or rather, attempting to make puzzles and arcade games so much. I think it's really just the challenge of the logic behind it. It's all building up to the day I try to remake astro chicken. That will probably be my programming apex. Once I can do that, I can do anything.

I remember being especially proud of myself for recreating the leisure suit larry 2 copy protection.

Holy Crap, it does not feel like it has been a whole year since this. Feels like it was only a couple of month's ago that I hammered out Winter Wonderland. Time has really flown this past year.

If he does't say it, I will!
