mt32blast.drv sndblast.drv fb01(fixed).drv questions
« on: August 06, 2025, 10:41:37 AM »
Hey guys,
After loads of messing around with sounds cards on real hardware, I've got a few questions regarding the DRV files.

When using sndblast.drv with a SoundBlaster 2.0 installed on IO: 240 IRQ: 5, DMA:1 the game lockups at start up. Does it need to use IO:220 or IRQ:7 to work with the sndblast.drv ? If so is there a way to configure it to use the non-standard addresses?

When using mt32blast.drv with a SoundBlaster Pro and a Roland MT32: I'm using a 8khz sound effect for a door to open (As per MusicallyInspired's post. When the sound effect plays it interrupts the MT32 music. Is there a way to have the sound effect play whilst the music is playing without interrupting?

When using the FB01(fixed).DRV with my Yamaha FB01 connected to my Roland MPU-401 via midi the music plays very slow and brings the game to a complete slow down. This also happens on LSL3 Vanilla, when using this DRV file for music. Any ideas why its not playing the music at normal speed?

Regards,

Thanks,

Is this still SCI0? Because there, the answer seems to be no. (Think about how SQ3 for PC includes a digital sample in the intro, but no way to play it) SCI1/SCI1.1 are a different story.

Hi,
Yep its SCI0. The sample plays fine when a door opens. Its just the questions bellow that I'm not sure about.

So it looks like ripsaw8080 "fixed" version of the driver which is on Vogons is not the best option here. I've compiled this one and no more slow downs. It does fail to load sometimes and create initialisation error but as the notes say on Github it buggy.

You'd want to have a driver that could take its configuration settings from resource.cfg. SCI0 does not allow that.
