Mega Tokyo AGI Archive / King's Quest 4 AGI
« on: October 12, 2003, 01:26:32 PM »
If I own King's Quest 4 SCI and someone allows me to download King's Quest 4 AGI is that stealing?

I'm not one to do the whole pirate thing...but, I would like King's Quest 4 AGI, just to play. If anyone would like to sell an original I would happily purchase it. However, I doubt that would EVER happen. So, if someone could be so kind as to email me or post a link for a copy that would be great.

And mods, please be kind, I'm not trying to get abandonware links posted. I do own another version of the game, I simply want an older version.

thanks,
-junc

Took me a while to find out where he put this...

http://www.agigames.com/uhs/

It has V on it and is some potential for new walkthroughs to be made...

Well, I was talking about hosting the site. If you don't need that though then I can host a few files (20MB worth) just as a mirror.

I was mainly thinking of relieving any costs you pay to keep Bripro.com banner free. I have it set up so you can FTP into a special folder on my site at http://bripro.juncmodule.com. But, if you're okay with how that is set up now...

As far as just hosting files for Ultimate AGISCI...you don't really need FTP access for that. I can just build a page and you can link directly to the files from the existing site as mirrors.

Do you have any way of keeping track of how many times a certain file on fileplanet has been downloaded? I figure I could host the ones that are hit the most. I'm not sure if you are aware of it but, I know in the past I have hit some dead links on that site. I think mostly in the games section though. I don't really want to host any games though. So many other AGI sites exist that it's not neccessary. I already host all but one SCI game...I think...at juncmodule.com. So of course I'm thinking of the AGI/SCI tools sections.

Okay!! I finally figured it out! For some reason when I set up sub-ftp accounts the username must be followed by @juncmodule.com

So, Brian, are you intersted?

Yep, I have CPanel. I have followed the instructions in the CPanel manual but it doesn't seem to work. The FTP name and folder are there, but I can't seem to log into it. If you can't walk me through it easily then I will just go to tech support with my host. If it's simple and you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

In that case I have even a better idea. If Chris will walk me through setting up a FTP for you on my site then I will host BriPro.com for FREE. In addition to that I could host some of the more needed files on AGISCI (meaning files that are not somewhere else right now). I could host the actual pages and a good chunk of the images as well. Although I have a lot of webspace (500MB) I have limited bandwidth (10GB). That is why I only offered 20MB. Let me know what you think.

This site sucks...okay not really, actually I LOVE this site, I LOATHE downloading things from it.

How much webspace does it take up? I may be willing to offer 20MB on my server if you are interested Brian, or if that is enough. I would rather not do the whole mirror thing just so that I can get something out of it  ;) perhaps setting up a subdomain like..."agisci.juncmodule.com"?? Let me know what you think.

I seem to recall something about his site being written in some way that it doesn't show up in certain browsers. Try this...if it doesn't work let me know and I will host a copy of it on my site.

Considering that all of the "Free" game engines out there are made by non-professionals I don't think it is fair to call any one of them unprofessional.

The engine really and honestly doesn't matter. It's the quality of art and the story behind it. Most importantly though it is the dedication behind your team. I believe that a long, and good quality, game can be made by amateur developers. It will just take a lot of dedication.

I second Brian on the 320x200x256 idea. I'm sure he will release SCI Studio VGA by the time you finish putting background art, story, sprites, music, and a team together. Then, it's just a matter of putting code together. In that time you could also be learning how SCI 3.0 coding works. I may be wrong about this but, I believe the code is similiar between the two.

May I suggest posting some of the work you have already completed. This usually inspires people to jump in and help you out I've noticed.

good luck,
-junc
